This inkset for the Pro-10 offers the user a choice of three levels of performance and economy. Since users can readily switch cartridges on the Pro-10, this aspect allows the user to choose any level of performance and savings they seek.
9 colors of the 10 color inkset will provide extremely high quality images to the most discriminating tastes. The 10th colors which we spent a few months over proved to be a very tough challenge and we have not met this challenge fully as yet. As such, we would recommend that users use the Canon OEM Red ink wheneber they see a need for extremely saturated and dark reds. We have found only Canon OEM Red allows the printer to meet those challenges. On more average images and those not containing those extreme colors the refill Red will provide a high quality image. This issue is not seen to be a problem if one retains two red cartridges. One that is Canon OEM red and the other for refilling.
Whenever the refilled red cannot meet the requirements of the image, you simply install the Canon OEM Red cartridge. Whn you are finsihed printing those images, you can reinstall the refilled red cartridge.
The revised inkset allows the user to fully use the features of the Black and White Photo Print mode on this printer.
The inkset is so close to OEM colors that printing that for users not wishing to use color management, they simply keep using the Canon Red cartridge and print and use the printer as they would as if all OEM inks were installed. Thus beginners are able to retain the image quality without extra learning and still print for very reasonable costs.
If the user wants more economy, then they can learn to use the ICC profiles and then retain the same image quality for most images, only using the Canon OEM red when it is called for by simply switching cartridges.
So In summary
Highest Performance - Use the Signature Inkset but retain using the Canon OEM Red.
Hybrid Performance - Keep two Red cartridges. One is OEM and the other is refilled. Use the appropriate cartridge depending on the image.
Economy - Use all 10 colors in the refills. Note that this may suffice for the majority of pictures and certainly fine for Black and White Images.Use the provided ICC profiles
