Collection: Canon Pro9000 Ink Refill

All CLI-8 colors used in the Pro9000 are dye inks, and our CLI-8 inks are dye based to match. The set covers all eight colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Red and Green. These inks work in both the PIXMA Pro9000 and Pro9000 Mark II.

The printer uses a little color ink during maintenance, even if you print mostly black and white.

Original Canon cartridges do not have a fill port, so the first refill needs a one-time modification. The screw eye hook and push pin included in every kit open the port. Fill with ink and seal with the silicone plugs from the kit.

From then on every refill is simple: pull the plug, fill, and put the plug back.

It is strongly recommended. The PGI-5 / CLI-8 resetter returns a refilled cartridge's chip to full, so the printer estimates ink again and gives a true low-ink warning before a cartridge runs dry. It runs on a CR2032 battery that lasts hundreds of resets and needs no cable. It comes in the Standard Kit and is sold on its own.

Without a reset the chip keeps reading empty. You can still print, but you must make sure every cartridge has ink, because printing with an empty cartridge can permanently damage the printhead.

Yes. We offer free custom ICC profiles for the Pro9000 and Pro9000 Mark II with our inks, covering papers from Red River, Canon, Kirkland, Ilford and Staples.

Every profile is made in-house with Argyll CMS and an X-Rite i1Pro2 spectrophotometer. Use Relative Colorimetric rendering intent. Each download includes lighting variants for different viewing conditions, and the listing shows the paper setting to use in the Canon driver.

Yes, and it is good practice. Every cartridge change sends ink to the waste pad, so refill every partly empty cartridge in one session rather than one at a time.

If you use the resetter, reset the chip before you fill, while the cartridge is not full.

Almost certainly not. Most print problems on refilled Canon printers come from a cartridge, not the printhead.

Run a nozzle check to find the color at fault. A cleaning cycle or two clears most streaks. If one color stays weak, service or replace that cartridge.
