Collection: Epson Stylus Photo R2880 Ink Refill

All nine R2880 colors are pigment inks, and our T096 compatible inks are pigment based to match: Cyan, Vivid Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Light Cyan, Vivid Light Magenta, Light Black, Light Light Black and Matte Black.

You do not need to flush out the Epson ink first. Our inks are compatible with the OEM ink already in the lines. These inks are made for the Epson Stylus Photo R2880.

No modification is needed. The R2880 runs on our refillable T096 cartridges, which have a refill plug built in and auto-reset chips already fitted.

If you start with empty cartridges (Standard Kit), fill each one from its bottle, then prime it once with the priming tip and syringe included in the kit. Prefilled cartridges (Premium Kit) skip that step: drop them in and print.

From then on every refill is the same: when a cartridge reads empty, pull the refill plug, fill it with ink, replace the plug and reinstall the cartridge.

Before each fill, gently agitate the bottle or rotate it end over end a number of times so the pigment is evenly mixed.

Our refillable cartridges use auto-reset (ARC) chips. The chip resets itself once the printer has counted the cartridge down to empty.

When the printer reports a cartridge empty, remove it, refill it and reinstall it. The chip then reads full again. Removing a cartridge before the printer reports it empty will not reset the chip.

If you would rather refill every color in one session, the optional Epson ARC Chip Resetter ($10.00) resets all the chips at once. That means one head cleaning cycle instead of several, which saves ink and waste pad life. It is included in the Ultimate Kit.

Yes. We offer free custom ICC profiles for the R2880 with our inks, covering papers from Red River, Epson, Staples and Kirkland.

Every profile is made in-house with Argyll CMS and an X-Rite i1Pro2 spectrophotometer. Use Relative Colorimetric rendering intent. Each download includes lighting variants for different viewing conditions.

Yes. Topping up keeps ink in the cartridge reservoir, and that protects the printhead. Just know that topping up does not reset the chip. The chip only resets after it reads empty.

A good routine: when one cartridge reads empty, refill it and top up all the others at the same time. Ink level estimates are not perfect, and a dry cartridge is the fastest way to a clogged head.

Never let a cartridge run completely dry. If the reservoir empties, the cartridge will need priming again before it prints cleanly.

Almost certainly not. Start with a nozzle check, then run a head cleaning cycle or two and check again. Most gaps clear this way.

Pigment ink can settle and dry in the nozzles when a printer sits idle. Printing a few times a week keeps ink moving and prevents most clogs.

If one color stays blank on a cartridge you filled yourself, the cartridge may have run dry and need priming again. Refill it, prime it with the priming tip and syringe, and run another nozzle check.
