Collection: Epson EcoTank ET-8550 Ink Refill

Both. We make a six color dye set and a six color pigment set for the EcoTank ET-8550 and ET-8500: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Black and Gray.

Pigment is the choice for archival prints and has free ICC profiles. Dye matches the ink type the printer ships with.

Do not mix dye and pigment in the same printer without a full flush. Our pigment inks should not be used to top off the original Epson dye ink.

To run pigment, start a new printer with it, or remove as much of the existing dye ink as you can before the first fill. Then stay with one ink type.

The ET-8550 has no cartridges, chips or resetters. Open the tank cover and fill each color into its matching tank.

The easiest way is to reuse your original Epson bottles. Their color-keyed tips only fit the right tank, and the two-port design keeps foam from overflowing. Twist off the cap, empty any leftover Epson ink into a sealed container, rinse the bottle, fill it with our ink and recap it tightly. Make sure each bottle gets the right color.

Before each fill, gently agitate the bottle or rotate it end over end a number of times so the pigment is evenly mixed.

We do not currently have profiles for the dye ink.

Choose low sheen luster, satin, semi gloss, fine art and matte papers.

Avoid high gloss papers. Pigment can show gloss differential on them, where inked and blank areas reflect light differently.

Run the printer's Power Cleaning cycle once or twice, with a few minutes of rest between passes, then print the nozzle check again. For a single lagging channel, Power Cleaning plus an overnight rest usually clears it.

If it still will not clear, a pigment-safe printhead cleaning solution or distilled water can help. To prevent clogs, print a few times a week so the ink keeps moving.
